It is nice to see a good article written about concrete explaining the potential in concrete and what it can bring to the design world. Sonoma Cast Stone, gore design and others have been in the industry for years and have shown that concrete is a great material for both interior and exterior design. However these companies who are at the "forefront" of concrete as an aesthetic material either really enjoy one dimensional design or they truly don't understand how much potential there is for concrete as a building product. There is only one company who offers concrete in any shape, color or form possible and it is Element Stoneworks. It has been in the concrete industry for more than twenty years and is a subsidiary company of Slate Select inc and Classic Cast Stone. If you are looking for a square sink or something that resembles a freeway overpass then Element Stoneworks is not for you. But if you are looking for a unique product that is "stain free" and unlike any other concrete on the market then you should look at Element Stoneworks.

Your article mentioned that you are abandoning the use of fly ash in your formula because of the scarcity. Have you heard of the fly ash spill at the Kingston steam plant in East Tennessee? You should check with TVA. They are paying to have the fly ash removed.

Hello, your articles are very informative. Thank you. I am a home owner and built a Chicago Green Home. I have concrete countertops throughout the home. I've been working with a company out of Milwaukee Wisconsin and I must say it hasn't been a pleasant experience. There is a defect in the master bath countertop and the interior designer feels it should be re-done. The owner & president of the concrete company wants me to re-measure the top with the overhang specified by the designer so that they can recast it. This is the first time in fifteen years working in development I've been told by any contractor/company to take responsibility to measure for them. I'm not comfortable with this. Any suggestions or recommendations? Greatly Appreciated! Linda

Great article! I'm glad to see other concrete companies taking the environment into consideration. Sonoma Cast Stone does great work, I have always thought very highly of them.

Keep up the good work!
