LIGHTING: You are going to love these outdoor solar lights!
September 22, 2007
Decorative outdoor solar lighting options continue to advance! These new options will light up your walkway, driveway, pool deck, patio, or outdoor stairs like no other you have seen so far.

You won’t stake these solar lights into the ground, these new solar lighting products are paver or brick-like in size, and can be installed in any pattern or frequency between the hardscape of your front or backyard. The lights are strong enough to walk on, and even strong enough for a small truck to drive over.
To be clear, there are no wires or conduit required for the innovative products. All of the technology is contained within each waterproof light. They simply replace a brick or are in-between a stone on your decking or pathway. The manufacturers do recommend for hard surface installation that a concrete-cutting professional assist us homeowners.

During the day the lights absorb the sun’s rays, and at night they guide your car or footsteps to home. The lights require anywhere from one to eight hours to charge depending on sunlight intensity (and brand), and a fully charged light will brighten your steps for up to 12 hours of darkness.
The lights use a charging system that does not require batteries. Therefore the life expectancy can be as long as 25 years (we have noted warranties below), compared to products that may use batteries, and a have a life expectancy of less than 5 years. You can expect these decorative lighting products to handle both hot and cold climates so you should not worry too much about your locale.
The lights come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors.

Pricing is a bit on the expensive side for all homeowners, but GetWithGreen.com believes that we will see some reduction in the future. We also want to keep in mind that these lights are not your typical garden variety decorative solar light. They are very high quality, and carry a comprehensive and lengthy warranty.
The Solar Cynergy products are available in circle, square or rectangular shapes. They can handle temperatures of -4 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. The products carry a 10 year warranty and a life expectancy of 25+ years. Retail pricing for a QUANTITY 6 lights are:

RSC100: $699-799Â RSC500: $799-899 RSC900: $1299-1399
The products can be purchased from various locations.
The Solar Cynergy products are not manufactured from recycled materials today, but Solar Cynergy sources tell GetWithGreen that they are investigating solutions.
The Hotbeam products are available in square or rectangular shape. Light colors are: yellow (amber), blue, green, red, white, and orange. The company claims you can drive over their installed products with a car or truck weighing up to 20 tons. The products carry a 3 year warranty.
Â

The Hotbeam product is available on the company’s website, but you must request a quote to get pricing. GetWithGreen.com has a request out to the Hotbeam team for pricing, we will update you as soon as we have this information for you!!
It is unclear if the Hotbeam product is manufactured from any recycled materials.

These lights seem interesting but are there any leds inside? Have you’ve seen them personally? I was just curious because the leds lights I have seen for outside lighting do not give off much light and are very directional. To be honest, I am not a fan of the led outside lights. Hoping these are diferent. anna http://www.green-talk.com
Hi Anna,
Thanks for your interest. David suggested I answer your question directly.
Yes, there are LEDs inside. 2 Nichia LEDs in the RSC100 and 500 models and 4 LEDs in the RSC900.
You are also correct that traditional solar LED outdoor lighting doesn’t give off much and while our line isn’t meant for illuminating an entire backyard, we feel we offer the perfect non-invasive, yet aesthetically pleasing accent/indicator lighting.
For any in depth product concerns, or additional images in a night setting, feel free to email me at john@solarcynergy.com.
Thanks again for your interest!
Are there any stores in Vancouver, BC that carry your products?
Thanks.
Hi Kim,
Thank you for the interest in our line. We are not currently in any retail stores in the BC area as we typically supply architectural and commercial projects direct. However, you may find us via few select online retailers such as:

Or you may simply email me at john@solarcynergy.com and we would be happy to take your order direct.
Thanks in advance and have a great weekend!
