Hi,

The spa at my condo complex has a light colored bottom. Would we save energy if we painted the bottom royal blue? Do you know of any studies that document the savings?

Do some municipalities have safety regulations against dark bottom pools?

Our spa is about 10x10 feet and 3 feet deep. The heater is on a timer so it only comes up to full temperature for a few hours every evening. If a dark bottom color would help keep the daytime temperature up perhaps that could reduce our energy bill somewhat.

I?m very interested in hearing your response. I was surprise how little information there is on this subject on the internet.

This article is put together really well, and does a good job of explaining the savings.
