An electrician can create separate switches for the two. Have been super happy (4 mos). We have a Panasonic fan in our third bath, and this exhaust fan is similarly quiet and effective. I'm writing in part because when I was looking for feedback, I found none for the all-=in-one arrangement. BTW, we were motivated to do the all in one because both baths are small but high end, and we wanted to reduce ceiling clutter. Each bath has either two sconces or one sconce as well.
